M A S T E R C L A S S
On-Camera Technique and Actors Marketing class
iWa is happy to welcome American Casting Director, Nancy Bishop, CSA, (Prague based) to Athens for the 2nd time. Nancy Bishop will be offering her Master Class to Actors in On-Camera Technique and Actor Marketing but will also be launching her new book, Secrets from the Casting Couch.
Day 1. Marketing and Book Launch: The first two hours of class will be a seminar, and demonstration. It will cover the main points of film casting technique, and actor promotion for the international market. Actors will watch and critique actual film castings of successful actors and discuss success strategies. Each participant will receive a signed copy of Secrets from the Casting Couch. Actors then participate in a series of exercises that develop effective on camera methods. Material covered will include close-up vs. wide shot techniques, playing an inner monologue and playing in the eyes. At the end of class, actors will be assigned scenework to perform the next day.
Day 2. Strategies for Screen Casting. Actors will apply the techniques they learned on Day One to perform scenework in front of camera. The scenes (in the English language), chosen from actual film projects that Nancy has cast, will include a variety of genres ranging from historical drama, to action/thriller to sci-fi. Each participant will get one-on-one coaching in front of the camera with Nancy, and will receive a DVD of their work after the course.
Nancy Bishop, is an Emmy-award nominated American Casting Director. She has cast over sixty American and British films, from her base in Prague. She is a member of The Casting Society of America, and the International Network of Casting Directors. She has cast for major feature films including Roman Polanski’s Oliver Twist, Bourne Identity, Prince Caspian and Wanted and she just completed work on George Lucas’s Red Tails. In addition to being a casting director, Nancy is committed to actor training and has developed a proven method for screen acting technique. She teaches master classes throughout Europe, and the US. She is the chair of the Acting for Film Department at the Prague Film School, and after this master class will be a jurist on the Drama Short Film Festival. She has also produced and moderated numerous talent symposiums at European film festivals.
Date: Saturday 19 - Sunday 20 Sept, 2009.
Time: 11:00 – 18:00 (an hour break)
Place: Athens
Cost: 300 EUR for two days, or
40 EUR for the two-hour seminar (Saturday 18th 11:00-13:00)
